Inclusion and diversity are related concepts, but they have distinct meanings and focus on different aspects of creating a positive and equitable environment. Here´s how we breakdown the key differences between inclusion and diversity in our organization and for our customers.
Definition
Diversity refers to the presence of a variety of differences among individuals. These differences can be visible or invisible and encompass various dimensions such as race, gender, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, religion, disability, and more.
Focus
Diversity emphasizes the recognition and appreciation of the unique characteristics, backgrounds, and perspectives that individuals bring based on their differences.
Our goal of diversity is to ensure representation and variety within a group or organization, acknowledging and valuing differences.
Definition
Inclusion is the practice of creating an environment where all individuals feel valued, respected, and included. It involves fostering a culture that embraces diversity and ensures that everyone, regardless of their differences, has equal opportunities to participate and contribute.
Focus
Inclusion focuses on creating a sense of belonging and ensuring that everyone feels welcomed and respected. It goes beyond mere representation and aims to make individuals feel an integral part of the community or organization.
Our goal is to collaborate and create a culture that actively seeks and appreciates diverse perspectives, encourages collaboration, and dismantles barriers that may hinder full participation.
In summary, diversity is about the variety of differences among individuals, while inclusion is about creating an environment that values and leverages those differences. Both concepts are crucial to thrive. It´s not enough to have diversity; true success comes when diversity is accompanied by a commitment to inclusion, ensuring that every individual´s voice is heard and valued.
We value diversity and inclusion not just for our organization but for our customers as well. Our solutions are centered around people. In supporting people with their mental well-being, our solutions must be equally diverse and inclusive as the strategies for our own teams. We follow through by working with a diverse product team that incorporates their values, insights and experiences into the final product. In doing so, we make sure everybody working for our customers feels hard, seen and understood.
The Energy of Innovation: Reflecting on an Epic Week at #CES2024
Being part of CES 2024 was an amazing experience and invaluable opportunity as one of only 70 companies on the Dutch Pavilion. Our bright orange spot attracted connections and conversations nonstop during the 4-day event.
A highlight was being invited as a female founder to the exclusive Female Founders Breakfast Session. Joining forces with 8 other women entrepreneurs plus Willemijn Schneyder and Prins Constantijn van Oranje, I gained invaluable insights on growing in the US market, where Sabender is rapidly expanding.
Hearing Willemijn Schneyder’s experienced, practical advice for female founders building stateside couldn’t have been timelier. We’re fully committed to this critical growth strategy. In fact, we are planning to move to the US, to be here, and drive our growth even more.
Also, I am thrilled to announce we’ve signed an MOU with South Korea’s MetaEduSys! Our two female-led companies will unite strengths to catalyze true change in education, across Europe and Asia.
The coming weeks, we will be busy following up with all the contacts and people we’ve met. The momentum and connections gained will no doubt propel an outstanding 2024. We are very grateful to be part of this unique journey. Warm thanks to all who made this week such a memorable experience.
